Osman Guelleh Farah University (OGFU) is a nationally accredited Higher Education Institution (HEI) recognized by the National Commission of Higher Education (NCHE) of the Republic of Somaliland. It was established by a dynamic group of academics, business leaders, and industry investors with decades of experience in Somaliland’s higher education and economic sectors. Founded on the philosophy of “Bridging Higher Education with Industry,” OGFU is committed to delivering transformative, industry-aligned education that produces not only graduates but also innovators, researchers, academics, and leaders capable of driving change across Somaliland and the region. With a curriculum focused on Agriculture, Technology, Engineering, Economics, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality, Sports, and Education, and supported by a wide international network, OGFU integrates academic excellence with practical impact to meet the demands of the 21st century.
Founding of OGF University
OGF University was founded by a distinguished group of academics, business leaders, and industry investors with a deep and longstanding commitment to the development of Somaliland’s higher education and economic sectors. This visionary group brings together over 15 years of academic leadership in Somaliland’s universities and more than 40 years of entrepreneurial and industrial experience across the Horn of Africa.
United by a common goal, these founders recognized the urgent need to transform higher education in Somaliland into a system that not only imparts knowledge but also fuels innovation, supports enterprise, and drives national development. Drawing on their combined expertise, they established OGF University as a next-generation institution—one that integrates rigorous academic training with the practical demands of modern industries.
The legacy of the late Haji Osman Guelleh Farah, a visionary leader and philanthropist, continues to inspire OGF University. His unwavering dedication to education, community development, and national progress laid the foundation for a new era of learning and innovation in Somaliland.
